Religion
Finally tonight: Religion and why I want to be clear it is never what
I'm talking about.
Often I have used this forum to talk about my relationship with the Lord
Jesus Christ and sometimes people think that means I'm talking about religion.
But religion is neither what I'm practicing nor what I'm promoting. Salvation
in Christ is not the practice of a religion; it is the acceptance of a
relationship with God.
Belief in Christ is to have the sin that separates us from God judged
at the Savior's cross and a relationship with God established for eternity.
In 1999, with my life ravaged by the destructive forces of drug and alcohol
addiction among many others, taking up traditions couldn't help me, performing
rituals couldn't rescue me and practicing religion couldn't save me.
But a miracle of immediate deliverance from the demons that plagued me
did occur at the moment I was baptized into the relationship with the
Lord Jesus Christ.
Say what you will about my public declaration of that, but please don't
call it religion.
