The Resurrection of Jesus (Easter)
There are also special traditions of family celebrations, particularly for
children; thus the chocolate, candy, Easter outfits and bonnets.
But on that first Sunday after Christ had been crucified, there was a
celebration that had nothing to do with bunnies or bonnets. The tomb in which
the crucified Christ had been laid was empty because the resurrected Christ had
risen.
And for 2000 years, rather than "a" resurrection it is still called "the"
resurrection, securing the singular place of the Lord Jesus Christ in history and
that empty tomb as the real centerpiece of this holiday weekend.
