The Christmas rush
Finally tonight: the Christmas rush and why you need to slow down long
enough to ask some very important questions.
What do you say about the birth that the Christmas holiday was originally
designed to celebrate?
Was it the realization of thousands of years of prophecy and promise?
Did it happen to a virgin?
Was the birth of Jesus Christ the beginning of a singularly sinless and
perfect life? Did it lead to tremendous works of lepers being cleansed,
the blind given sight, the paralyzed and lame being restored and the dead
being raised as miraculous signs that Jesus Christ is lord and the Son
of God?
Did the life that began in a manger end on the cross with the price of
sin for all who would believe paid in full by the shedding of his blood?
Did it begin again with his resurrection and an empty tomb to serve as
an open door to eternal life for all who would follow him?
Will his birth, life, death and resurrection culminate with him, returning
to this earth to claim his people as a groom claims a bride?
The true celebration of Christmas requires that you slow down long enough
to give an answer to these questions. What a shame it would be if you
rushed right through the season without even asking them.
