Telemarketers as an opportunity
Finally tonight: telemarketers and why Christians should be prepared to turn
an inconvenience into an opportunity.
It's easy to bristle at being bothered by a telemarketer's interruption. But
they're hoping to turn that inconvenience into an opportunity. From their
perspective, they're calling with good news. And let's face it, they keep
calling because after hearing their pitch, a lot of people who at first adamantly
refused, ultimately accept their offer.
But accepted or denied, the offer must be made because the boss has given
orders to pitch as many people as possible. And, in a way, even rejection helps
build character.
Christians should take heart in knowing that the Gospel is an offer of the
Good News that salvation from sin has come through the death of the Lord Jesus
Christ. And because our boss has given orders to pitch as many people as
possible, every telemarketer with a proposal is also a prospect to a Christian.
Just promise to listen to their pitch after they've listened to yours.
